I am interrupting my posts to share a very special invitation. I am deeply grateful to have the opportunity to return to one of my most beloved slices of coast this October 24-26 and offer a retreat to awaken the senses and heal through nature. This is an opportunity to re-center amongst the Redwoods, the river, and the sea.
I hope you can join me at Esalen!
More information below, and why I am calling it erotic ecology.
With love,
Lindsay
Talk of mysteries!—Think of our life in nature,—daily to be shown matter, to come in contact with it, —rocks, trees, wind on our cheeks! the solid earth! the actual world!
- Thoreau
A place where the three waters meet. A terrain of deep rest, sustenance, and awe. A watery, tree-brimming, flower-drenched, sunlight and fog-soaked bit of coastal wonder.
Esalen.
Esalen Institute is perched on sacred land on the Big Sur coast of California and has been beloved for thousands of years.

People come from far and wide to connect with their deepest desires on these lands.
Desire to heal, to awaken, to connect, to become more free.
Founded in the 1960s by esoteric thinkers, Esalen’s origin is rooted in the resistance of harmful political and societal norms.
Kind of like what is needed today.
I could not be more excited that I will be returning to Esalen as faculty and offering a retreat on Erotic Ecology this October 24-26, 2025.
You are so warmly welcome.

We need to rediscover love as a biological principle.
- Andreas Weber

The word eros is the form of love that pumps through our veins, quickens the heart, and enlivens the soul. To quote the feminist and activist Audre Lorde, Eros is equivalent to lifeforce.
The erotic is the essence of our very aliveness.
And we learn the elemental, cellular, biochemical nature of aliveness, from, well, nature.
The botanist Robin Wall Kimmerer, author of Braiding Sweetgrass, says her mission is to help heal our broken relationship to nature.
I think of erotic ecology as part and parcel of that vision.
It is a way to approach understanding ecology as a love process.
To practice caring for the biosphere and of creating satisfying relationships inspired by the Eros of life — the power which makes everything in our reality yearn for connection and transformation.
At the Erotic Ecology retreat, we will rediscover our birthright: an intimate relationship with the Earth as lover and healer. This kinship reminds us that, at our essence, we are not separate from the Earth — we are the Earth.
Love — the impulse to establish connections, to intermingle, to weave our existence poetically together with that of other beings — is a foundational principle of reality.
- Andreas Weber
The Earth will invite us to get very intimate with them, to come back into our bodies, and rediscover the attraction, pleasure and vitality that is always available to us.
Together, we will do practices grounded in science and inspired by contemplative and embodiment modalities. There will be guided meditations, earth connection rituals, I will teach the eight stages of body awareness, also known as our “eighth sense,” and we will learn how to listen and speak directly with nature.
This is one of my favorite weekends of the year. We will soak in the Esalen hot springs, eat farm-grown beautiful food, have time and space to deepen our mindful awareness of nature, and practice love as a foundational principle of reality.
Come and join me! Your senses will thank you.
